John Pointer's Music Catalog
On these pages you will find a track or two from each of John’s albums as well as detailed information on each of his records. Inside the patron area, you can download the rest of the tracks as well as a nearly constant flow of new music, particularly live shows.
- "Schizophonic"
- This is John’s first fully produced solo venture in the studio. It began in 2004 as an EP and just kept growing. There are several tracks for this album that went into limbo when he released it and will eventually be added to the patron area.
- "Live In The Studio"
- This was recorded in three hours on January 16, 2003. The album was meant to simply be a souvenir to take away from his first solo show on January 22, 2003 at the Saxon Pub in Austin, TX, but as he launched into a performance schedule that would average 250 shows per year, his stack of CDs wound up carrying him through until 2007 when the first versions of "Schizophonic" were made available to the audiences at Zach Scott’s "Jesus Christ Superstar." The full album is available in the patron area.
- Schrodinger's Cat: "Big Beat A Capella"
- This group combined stomps, beatboxing, and vocalization to create the sound and energy of a full band without any of the instruments. "Big Beat A Cappella" was their first record, released on March 8, 1999. The full album is available in the patron area.
- Schrodinger's Cat: "Spin EP"
- The "Spin EP" was the precursor to a Schrodinger’s Cat album that never happened. They were in the studio recording it when they sadly broke up. Today, there are still unfinished tracks from those sessions archived at Stinson Studios in Austin, TX. Maybe eventually they will be brought back out into the light and finished ... maybe. The full album is available in the patron area.
- Woodwork: "Viewfinder"
- Right out of college in 1996, John performed cello with the band Woodwork, which featured David Lee Hess and Chris Downey. Along with Michael Hedges, these two guitarists influenced John’s approach to acoustic music more than anyone else. Along with drummer Jason McKenzie, they released 1999's "Viewfinder," their first full-length record. The full album is available in the patron area.
- Woodwork: "Some Conversation"
- "Some Conversation" was released by Woodwork in 1997. A much more raw recording of Woodwork than "Viewfinder," the album featured Mark Bluethman, who preceded Jason McKenzie on drums. This has two of John’s favorite recordings with Woodwork: "My Entourage" and "Somebody House." The full album is available in the patron area.
- Trio Los Vigilantes: "Tiernamente"
- This was the second recording of the Trio.
- Miscellanea
- This is the repository of homeless recordings, including various live tracks, commercials, unfinished work, and demos. You will find an ever-growing selection in the patron area.
